About Captain Marcia

  • Experienced (25+ years) sailor on inland lakes, Caribbean, Bahamas and San Diego Bay on monohulls and catamarans from 12 ft to 50 ft in length.  I started sailing small dinghys (Sunfish, Laser, Precision) as a young adult in Illinois and fell in love with sailing.  I completed several American Sailing Association certifications (ASA 101, 103, 104) that demonstrated my proficiency in sailing. In 2005, I purchased my keelboat, a Catalina 22 named “Two-Part Harmony.” I enjoy sailing her on Lake Whitney, Texas. As a former music & piano teacher, her name symbolizes my two loves!
  • ASA Sailing Instructor since 2009 & USCG Master Mariner Captain (25 Gross Tons with Auxiliary Sail endorsement) since 2016.
  • I teach both teens and adults how to sail with positive encouragement!  For past six years, I have been the Sailing Instructor for Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas summer camp.
  • Love to share my passion, knowledge and enjoyment of sailing with you!
  • In just a few hours, and with some practice, learn how to rig and steer a tiller sailboat, hoist and trim sails, tie a few basic knots and communicate with your crew using proper sailing terms.
